To celebrate TOFT's 15th birthday in 2021, we revisited and perfected some of our most iconic and favourite designs from the previous decade and a half. These patterns helped shape TOFT into the company it is today, each one causing a twist and turn on our path to 2021 and beyond. These patterns follow our journey from the very early ready-to-wear collections through to the first creation of Edward’s Menagerie and to a brand new pattern that celebrates this year and the future.

The Altan snood encapsulates how beautiful the simplicity of the moss stitch can be. You will have first seen this design in 2009.

“This snood was one of the very first TOFT patterns developed just as a knitting kit and not offered as a ready-to-wear item. Our machine- knitted lace snoods were so popular that we wanted to offer a similar shaped accessory for those wanting to make it themselves. This was the perfect pattern for a beginner to get to grips with their knits and purls, and really celebrated the texture of our chunky yarn with the bold moss stitches. A truly unisex piece in the TOFT range encapsulating the kind of simplicity that really shows off a luxury yarn to its best and has stood the test of time through the years.”

The Altan Snood is made using TOFT's pure wool range of seriously luxurious yarn spun in Yorkshire from the finest fleeces. Our pure wool yarns are versatile and can be used for most knitting and crochet patterns creating wonderful garments for adults and children, and a full range of accessories.

THIS KIT CONTAINS: 360g of TOFT's luxury CHUNKY pure wool in the colours of your choice.
