During Victorian times the Petunia symbolised anger and resentment in the language of flowers, but their meaning has transformed over time as the blooms have become more popular. The Mayans and Incas used these flowers to ward off spirits and monsters from the underworld, believing that Petunias won't grow in an area with negative energy. Today they are associated with desire, calmness and hope, with each colour holding additional symbolism. It's safe to say that there is a Petunia for any occasion, and this crochet flower will be a firm favourite for years to come.
