Hortense the Manatee joined the menagerie as part of the Conservationists crochet subscription in 2023, becoming the first project in the club that was suitable for complete beginners. Not to be confused with a dugong, the manatee belongs to a group of animals called ‘Sirenia’ and is also related to the Stellar’s sea cow which is now extinct. It's closest living relative is in fact an elephant!

YOU WILL NEED: To complete your crochet Manatee you will need a few added extras including a 3mm crochet hook, toy stuffing and a wool needle. Find everything you need in our haberdashery section or upgrade to a complete kit which includes all of the above!
MEASUREMENTS: When finished your Manatee will be approximately 30cm long from front of head to end of tail.
