We are proud to introduce Lifford the Starling, designed by Kerry Lord and 2023's Edstravaganza winner! Based on one of the UK most social birds, the starling, the iridescent plumage is reflected in an array of TOFT's shades from Teal to Heather and the crochet pattern makes use of embroidery techniques to add the distinctive white spots. These birds are famous for their murmerations, a beautiful and enchanting aerobatic gathering of flocks before they drop into their favourite roosting sites.

TOFT’s Edward’s Menagerie collection is a series of crochet amigurumi toys designed by Kerry Lord. This crochet bird kit contains TOFT’s quality pure wool yarn and an easy-to-follow downloadable pattern. There are video links for all the crochet stitches and techniques used in the pattern to get you started and help you complete your toy. The crochet pattern is provided digitally in .pdf format. You can download this from a link that will appear at the bottom of your order confirmation email and in your MY TOFT library. You can log in and re-download the pattern at your convenience.

YOU WILL NEED: To complete your crochet bird you will need a few added extras including a 3mm crochet hook, toy stuffing and a wool needle. Find everything you need in our haberdashery section.

MEASUREMENTS: When finished your Starling will be approximately 22cm tall from feet to top of head.

SKILL LEVEL 2: This kit is suitable for enthusiastic beginners or those who have crocheted before.

IT WILL TAKE: Approximately 5-10 hours crochet time.
