First spotted in the Autumn 2017 collection of TOFT Quarterly Magazine patterns, Barry the Woolly Pig is a great beginner project that is perfect for practising the 'chain loops' technique to create the distinctive fleece of the breed. The UK's original woolly pig, the Lincolnshire Curly Coat, has been extinct since the 1970s, but the woolly pig lives on thanks to Hungarian breeders importing these pigs to cross with their own herds years ago. Since 2006, the Hungarian Mangalitza has been brought back to the UK and numbers are steadily rising.
